What format are the recordings in?

The recordings are all mp3. With the exception of the 20” excerpts, all recordings are compressed to 192 kbps VBR (no DRM). This makes the full releases comparatively large and slow to download, but we think you’ll appreciate the extra sound quality.

Do I have to use iTunes to receive the subscription series?

No. You just have to make sure that you have some podcasting software (there’s plenty of it about) and a media player that supports mp3 192 kbps VBR (Variable Bit Rate) format.

Can I download from 7hings using a dial-up connection?

Technically, yes. But any of the downloads will take a horrendously long time to complete. Broadband will arrive in your area soon – promise!

Can I copy my subscription series (podcast) URL to different computers?

It’s not advised. It’s only possible to download each release in a series once, so you run the risk of ending up with different releases on different computers.

Can I subscribe to a subscription series using a podcast directory?

Not yet, unfortunately! Each podcast URL is unique to each user, which is not something any podcast directory can yet cope with.

Can I unsubscribe from a subscription series (podcast) using my podcast software?

It’s not advised. If you re-subscribe subsequently you may find yourself unable to access recordings that were released whilst you were off, even though you were entitled to them. You should switch off the tap at the mains in this case (i.e. visit 7hings to do stop them coming)
